April 15: Paros: Piso Livadi

Breakfast was again a coffee and a freshly-made cheese omelette. I also had some toast and jam to round things out.

Thankfully, my laptop had charged overnight, so I spent the morning finishing the release documentation that I started writing the day before, and published it. I also worked on some SDK documentation and sent that for review.

After about 3 hours of work, I decided to drive to the nearby fishing village of Piso Livadi tor lunch and a look around. I drove down some incredibly narrow roads and I didn't recognize some of the road signs, so I just crossed my fingers and hoped I wasn't going the wrong way down a one-way street. I managed to find street parking just outside of the village, and walked the rest of the way.

Lunch was grilled octopus and basmati rice at Markakis Restaurant. It was really fresh and lovely, but a little light. I pondered whether I should order more food, but the decision was made for me when it proved impossible to get the attention of any of the restaurant staff. It took me almost 25 minutes to flag down a waitress, get the bill, and pay so I could leave. At one point, while I was trying to flag down a waitress, I was tempted to just get up and walk away to see if that got their attention or not.

I drove back to the hotel and had a lovely late-afternoon swim. The water in the pool seemed warmer, but maybe I was just getting used to it. It was another quiet night in, watching TV in my jammies and eating the last of the Easter cookies that Rita had insisted I take with me.
