April 19: Paros

I have had breakfast, updated the blog, and now I'm waiting for my guts to settle before going to the beach for a swim in the ocean. I'm having a bit of IBS today - not sure why - so I'm having a leisurely morning in my room until I am confident I can go out. Gut troubles are one of those less fun parts of travelling. You just have to "read the room" and know when it's safe to go out. I may have to lay off the fresh salad for a couple of days. ;-)

This is the last day that I have the rental car. So, after my swim, I will go out for lunch, gas up the car, and pay for the rental at reception. I will spend the afternoon here at the hotel, probably swimming in the pool. I will have a sandwich and some fruit on the balcony for dinner.

Tomorrow I catch the ferry to Naxos. Mr. Vali will drive me from the hotel to the port in Parikia. We have to leave here just after 10:00am to get to the port for 11:00am. If the ferry is on time, it will probably start loading at 11:30am. It leaves Paros at 11:55am and arrives at Naxos, the next island over, at 12:55pm. I am guessing from my previous visit to Naxos and the distance calculator on Google Maps that it will take me about 30 minutes to walk from the port to my hotel next to Agios Georgios Beach. I'm staying at the Aegeon Hotel, which is a homely 2-star hotel. I chose it primarily because it has a pool and it is also a short walk to the beach - the best of both worlds for a water baby like me!
